Accessing SEARCHmate Databases Exiting SEARCHmate Databases Technet's SEARCHmate Databases
Access to SEARCHmate databases begins by launching a Telnet session.
When a Telnet session begins, a Telnet client is launched. This window is not a graphical screen like Netscape, Internet Explorer, QMosaic or other graphical Web browser. It is a character-based (text) interface.
You are required to login before your telnet session begins. To login, type
Your_technet_username and press [Tab] or click on the Password: field. Type
Your_technet_password and press [Enter] or click on
.
| After logging in, the
initial SEARCHmate screen is displayed. The name of the database is displayed in the upper left
corner of the screen. The number of documents in the database is shown on the next line.
NOTE: Your mouse does not work during a Telnet session. You must use your keyboard. |
|
| From any
SEARCHmate screen where Main Menu is an option, press [F1]. From the MAIN MENU
press [F4] to Exit. The Telnet connection closes but the Telnet client remains open.
NOTE: You must Exit the Telnet client. Each time you begin a telnet session, a new telnet client is launched. Keeping the previous telnet client open just increases overhead on your computer's resources. |
