The Second District Court (SDC) Dockets and Calendars database offers a convienient way to search for case information. It contains civil and domestic case records that date back to 1986. However, if a case of this type is re-opened, the docket may date past 1986. The criminal case records go back to 1979. Children's delinquent cases are also included. Each record contains information about the parties involved, dockets, and events/issues of the case.
NOTE: Second District Court is a Premium Service. When you connect to this service, you incur an additional charge per docket and per calendar retreived from Technet.
For more detailed information, please see pricing information for:
From the main menu, click on the Government Services button, then the State Services button, then the New Mexico Courts button. Click on the Second District Court button. You may need to type in your username and password.
You should make a bookmark to the first page. Now, whenever you want to access Second District Court (SDC), just pull down your Bookmark menu and select Second District Court. The bookmark may appear as pgSearchLaunch on your bookmark menu. Because of the way SDC is configured, this is the only page you should bookmark.
NOTE: Because of the different way in which SDC is being accessed, your charge for using SDC will not be charged per minute. Rather, you will be charged a lookup charge per docket or calendar. You are not charged for name searches, but they return lists of dockets and calendars to retrieve. See the Premium Services rates page.
Go to another web page using your bookmark menu. Or close Netscape if you don't need to use other Technet services. You've exited.
The Second District Court uses web forms to access the database. This approach eliminates the need for learning new keystrokes and returns the desired information in a form suitable for printing or saving as a file. See Using Web Forms for more details on how you can do things like select two items from a list and so on.
All docket and calendar search strings begin with the letter D (which doesn't need to be typed, as it is already inserted). In addition, the second field should 202, the numeric code for Second District Court. (This allows other courts to be added later.)
The next two fields are the case type, and the case number. (There is no need to pad case number searches with
extra 0s) Once these are entered, click
. All the fields in this search must be filled in. See Using Web
Forms for more information.
Here are the Case types:
| Code | Meaning |
| CR | Criminal |
| CV | Civil |
| DM | Domestic Relations |
| DV | Domestic Violence |
| ER | Extradition |
| PB | Probate |
EXAMPLE:
D-202-CV-9700001 is the first Civil case filed in 1997.
All docket and calendar search strings begin with the letter D. In addition, the second field should 202, the code for Second District Court.
Select the Calendar option by clicking on the world Calendar. Type in the case number as described for docket searches.
This search will return a table displaying all the scheduled events for that case number. When you save this file, be sure to save it as HTML to preserve the table format . Clicking on any of the case numbers performs a docket search on that number.
Select the Docket OR Calendar by PARTY DETAILS option and click the
button. This will take
you to the page where you can enter party information.
The last name is a required field in this search. The more information you are able to enter, the shorter the list of prospective cases will be, saving time and money. Specifically, a birthdate is useful in both noticeably improving response times and ensuring the right party has been selected. Once you have entered the information, click the
button again.
A table displays the possible choices for the name you entered, including what party type each person is. You may retrieve the case or the calendar information by clicking on Get Cases or Get Calendar. This will perform a search on that case or that calendar.
EXAMPLE: You type DOE JOHN A in the name fields, and 01/01/1966 in the birthdate filed. Entering a birthdate (if you have one) dramatically increases the response time to searches.
NOTE: Because of the way Second District Court is configured, bookmarking this page may produce unusual results. Going to the main docket/calendar search page and then requesting this page is strongly recommended.
From the main search page, select Docket OR Calendar by ALIAS and click
. This search is
identical to the search by party name, except that it searches the alias fields: these include the name fields and
social security fields, for instance. Being as specific as possible speeds up the search.
NOTE: Because of the way Second District Court is configured, bookmarking this page may produce unusual results. Going to the main docket/calendar search page and then requesting this page is strongly recommended.
From the main search page, select Docket OR Calendar by OFFICER OF THE COURT and click
. A page displays allowing you to pick one officer type to search for, either by code or by name. Pick one officer type. Enter the code or name in the appropriate area. Type as much of the name as you know.
(You may use the dropdown menu to change the search to Begins With rather than contains. In the normal search, an entry of "jo" will match both Joe and Armijo, while a Begins With search would match only Joe. (See the Sample
Form for an explanation of form features, including dropdown menus.)
Once the information has been entered, click
. A list of candidates will be displayed. You have the option of picking either to search for dockets or
calendars with that officer of the court involved.
NOTE: Because of the way Second District Court is configured, bookmarking this page may produce unusual results. Going to the main docket/calendar search page and then requesting this page is strongly recommended.
All results are displayed in a standard browser window. Some screens may be wide enough that they may need to be horizontally scrolled. See The Scroll Bar for more detail.
Usually using the
button is a better way to begin a new search than by clicking the BACK
button.
When saving any information saved in a table, save it in HTML format. Saving information in a table in text format will cause the formatting to be lost. It's also a good idea to make a note of where you saved the file and to use meaningful file names. Files saved in Plain Text format are generally intended to be imported into a word processor.
Files saved in HTML can be read into Netscape when you're offline and printed by using the File menu and selecting the Open File option to read in a saved file. Alternatively, files saved as Plain Text can be imported into your favorite word processor for further formatting and printing there.
Most codes are translated into their full text equivalent. All Officer of the Court Courts can be found using a By the Officer of the Court search to translate the code into the name. See Docket Number for the cast type codes used in a docket number search.
